Even when you’re not feeling it…

DISCOVERING DESTINY.
Overcoming Darkness.
How are you overcoming the darkness of disconnect? Let’s journey together!
Love is a word that gets tossed around very easily, but is not always understood. A lot of people, particularly around a holiday like Valentine’s Day, see it as frivolous, silly, or fake.
But most of us don’t always realize or acknowledge how very basic the human need for love is.
Did you realize love is actually more important than food or physical nourishment?
There’s scientific proof.
In the 1950’s, psychologist Harry Harlow conducted an experiment in which he took baby monkeys away from their mothers. The babies were all given the exact same amount of physical care and nourishment. But there was one key difference. One group was given a cloth “mother” that they could cling to for affection. The others were not.
The group of babies with food but nothing to love them all died.
Today, neglected human babies experiencing a similar phenomenon are assigned the medical condition “failure to thrive.”
But unlike popular interpretations, love is not only essential for thriving but for surviving as well.
As Christians we all know that God created us. But we sometimes get so caught up in ducking God’s judgment that we forget the entire reason he created us was because of how very much he loves us.
Without God’s love for us, none of us would exist at all.
Think about that for a minute.
The reason you were born is because God loves you enough to want you to exist. You, with all your quirks and idiosyncrasies. With all your strengths and weaknesses. Someone that no one else has ever been or ever will be.
So, when people put you down or let you down, remember your creation and life’s purpose isn’t up to them. It’s up to God and he will never, ever let you down in this life or in the much better one he sacrificed his own son to give you.
And if that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.
